What Celebrities Spend their Millions of Dollars on!

If you had enough money to buy anything you desire, what would it be? A boat? A room full of designer shoes? Extravagant vacations? All of the above?

Celebrities worth more money than we can wrap our heads around spend their money in exorbitant and often surprising ways. Check out the wild price tags on the purchases below.

Jay Z’s Bugatti Grand Sport – $2M

Beyonce bought husband Jay-Z a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport for $2 million for his 41st birthday. She had to order the car – the fastest car in the world that goes from zero to sixty in 2.5 seconds – one full year in advance. Jay-Z is now a part of the (very) exclusive club of Bugatti owners, including Tom Brady, Ralph Lauren and Tom Cruise.

The Bugatti is now one of many luxury cars in Jay-Z’s possession, including the Phantom Rolls-Royce, Ferrari F430 Spider, Maybach 62S and a Pagani Zonda Roadster.

Jay-Z might have 99 problems, but a nice ride is definitely not one.

Tom Cruise’ Personal Jet – $36M

You won’t be seeing Tom Cruise flying coach anytime soon. The actor purchased a $36 million Gulfstream G4 aircraft for his own personal use back in 2014.

Decked out with a Rolls-Royce engine, this aviation masterpiece can get up to over 900 km/h (Mach .88). In 2016, Gulfstream announced that they plan to discontinue production of the G4 model and deliver the last of them in 2018 in preparation for an even faster and better model G500. We imagine Tom is already waiting in the wings for his upgrade.

Mariah Carey’s Engagement Ring – $10M

Mariah Carey has never been known for subtlety. She’s a self-proclaimed diva who loves expensive things and indulging in the high life with abandon. So it was fitting that she fell for one of Australia’s most eligible bachelor’s, James Packer. Son of media mogul, Kerry Packer, James is worth $4.4 billion from a string of business and investment successes.

Carey and Packer got engaged in early 2016 after months of travelling the globe on romantic vacations and red carpet events. But it was the engagement ring that made the headlines, reportedly costing $10M with a massive 34-karat diamond. Seven months later, the couple split with reports that she was cheating on him with one of her backup dancers.

Apparently, Carey is not giving the ring back. She has reportedly decided to keep it as a souvenir.

Steven Spielberg’s Yacht – $184M

When you’re Steven Spielberg and one of the greatest film directors of all time, you don’t settle for just any boat. Instead you pay a cool $184 million for the ultimate in luxury, privacy and prestige.

At 282 feet, The Seven Seas yacht is packed with amenities. It boasts an infinity pool, a helicopter pad, a gym, a spa and a massage room and of course, a screening room.

The yacht sleeps up to 12, but we’re betting he has squeezed in a few more while sailing the world with celebrity friends and studio execs. Spielberg charters out the boat for $1.2 million a month, making it one of the most expensive charters in the world.

Spielberg reportedly put The Seven Seas up for sale in 2015 so that he could purchase an even bigger yacht that exceeds 300 feet. Can you imagine the gas, insurance and maintenance bill on that behemoth!

Richard Branson’s Island – $10M

Sir Richard Branson, business mogul and founder of Virgin Group has an estimated worth of $5.2 billion with over 400 businesses that span from retail to music to transport. Eternally youthful, the 66 year old has some of the most enviable properties and toys available.

Perhaps his most famous toy is Necker Island, a 74-acre Caribbean resort that has hosted celebrities and parties for decades. The resort cost $10 million and five years to build, with an estimated worth of over $60 million. The ultimate private adult playground, Necker Island is decked out with toys for any adventure, including a zipline from the main house straight down to the white sand beach, a 105-foot yacht called The Necker Belle, a three-passenger open cockpit submersible called the Necker Nymph and a $1.7 million submarine that mimics flight underwater for shark and whale sightings.

Jay Z’s Maybach Exelero – $8M

Not only is Jay-Z married to one of the hottest chicks in the game, he also has impeccable taste in cars. With an $8 million price tag, the Maybach Exelero is a two-seater coupe that can reach speeds of up to 200 miles per hour. Jay featured the car in the music video for his song “Otis” alongside Kanye West.

Brangelina’s French Chateau – $60M

In 2008, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt purchased a $60 million French chateau and vineyard called Miraval in Provence, France. The couple was married on the 1200-acre grounds in 2014 in a Romanesque chapel amid olive groves, sprawling hills and a private lake. The entire property is surrounded by a moat, which dates back centuries.

The home itself includes 35 rooms, a spa, a gym, an outdoor pool, a home theater, a video game room, a dirt bike racetrack and a helicopter pad. In fact, the only way they travel to and from the property is by helicopter and locals say they have seen Pitt stop by a few times since the couple announced their divorce last year.

The couple has been producing wine from their vineyard for years, offering a little piece of heaven to the rest of us. Miraval wines are sold in wine stores across North America for $21 a bottle.

Mike Tyson’s Gold Bathtub – $2M

Not exactly famous for being the most frugal of multi-millionaire athletes, Mike Tyson has made headlines for purchasing exotic pets such as white tigers and over one hundred vehicles, not to mention his exorbitant legal fees and mismanagement of his investments.

When Tyson married his first wife Robin Givens, he bought her a $2 million bathtub made entirely of gold for their first Christmas in marital bliss. The couple divorced just over one year later after allegations of physical and mental abuse. Tyson was forced to sell the tub to English billionaire Derwood Hodgegrass for half the price.

Kim Basinger’s Town – $20M

Kim Basinger bought a small town called Braselton, Georgia for $20 million with the dream of transforming it into a tourist attraction and possible film studio. Unfortunately for Basinger, Georgia is quite a trek from Hollywood and her plans didn’t quite come together. Five years after she and her partners purchased the town, she sold it for a mere $1 million and filed for bankruptcy shortly afterward.

The town has over 2000 residents and is now owned by a developer. It boasts a winery, the American Junior Golf Association headquarters, a racetrack and is a major distributor of Sears products.

Amal Clooney’s wedding dress – $4M

When Amal Clooney married George Clooney in Venice in July 2015, you could hear hearts breaking all over the world. The wedding was lavish and sophisticated, packed with celebrities and friends of the couple. Amal’s Oscar de la Renta custom design wedding dress cost $4 million, which is expensive even by celebrity standards.

Kim and Kanye’s Wedding – $12M

Kim and Kanye’s wedding will go down in history as one of the most opulent, excessive and just plain crazy celebrity weddings of all time.

The couple flew 200 of their closest family and friends to Paris, France where they hosted pre-wedding parties, including a rehearsal dinner in the Versailles palace. The next morning, everyone flew to Florence, Italy where they tied the knot at the Forte di Belvedere.

When all was said and done, the wedding cost $12 million. How is that even possible? Let’s get to the details.

The venue in Florence cost $400,000 to rent.

Kim walked down the aisle in a custom couture Givenchy dress that cost a cool half million dollars and changed into a shorter number for the reception that was embellished with pearls. Even the couple’s daughter, North was dressed in Givenchy.

The flowers totaled $136,000 and included a 20-foot wall of fresh white and cream flowers that were prepared by the city’s oldest and most respected florist.

The vanilla cake cost $7000 and stood 7 feet tall.

The cost of security alone was $65,000.

Performers included John Legend, Andrea Bocelli, Lana del Ray and Big Sean, but we’re guessing they performed pro bono.

Nicolas Cage’s Pet Octopus- $150K

When money is no object, one can make some interesting and somewhat ludicrous expenses. Nicolas Cage is known for lavish spending habits on yachts, a jet, a castle, more than 50 cars and two islands. But the icing on his cake was when he purchased a live octopus for $250,000 and claimed that the animal helped him with his acting. You be the judge.

Cage has since parted ways with the animal.

Ben Affleck’s Birthday Surprise – $400K

Remember Bennifer? Gigli? Like you, we are happy to forget. Ben Affleck went from baseball hats to three-piece suits while dating Jennifer Lopez back in 2002. He also spared no expense on surprise gifts for his then fiancée. For Jennifer’s 33rd birthday, Ben gave her a $400,000 Phantom Rolls-Royce and threw her a massive surprise party. When the couple split up, we all breathed a sigh of relief and Jennifer returned the car along with her engagement ring. Classy.

Katy Perry’s gift to Russell Brand – $200K

It must be tough to buy birthday presents for a man who has it all. When Katy Perry was married to Russell Brand, she gifted him a $200,000 ticket to space so he could go on a Virgin Galactic mission. After travelling into the atmosphere at a rate three times the speed of sound, Brand would be given the opportunity to float weightlessly for five minutes before heading back to earth.

The couple have since divorced, but we give Katy top marks for creativity!

The Beckham Art Collection – $40M

David and Victoria Beckham reportedly have an art collection valued at $40 million with pieces by Banksy, Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin. Some of the art is stored in the couple’s $65 million estate in Kensington, London where they have lived since Beckham ended his stint in Los Angeles in 2013.

In 2012, Victoria commissioned Damien Hirst to create a seven-foot, heart-shaped canvas with butterflies called “Daddy’s Girl” for daughter Harper’s birthday. It is said to be worth $900,000.
